- The machine in the film was previously owned by me
I'd really wanted a 650 cc Thunderbolt but was offered this one (a
Lightning -basically the same bar an extra carb.) at a very good price.
The only snag was that it had been highly tuned (increased to 750, highly polished and drilled full of holes!) and turned out to be a bit of a pig to ride - not really suitable for day to day bumbling around
in traffic. Oddly enough the only modification they (Devimead) hadn't done was improve the oilflow (a known fault) and it ended up seizing while in the Tyne tunnel.
Back on the road again I decided to sell it (via a local shop) and was pleased
to hear that it was destined to end up in Birmingham, I always get attached to my bikes and would rather not see them again once I've let them go..
So I couldn't believe it when it suddenly reappeared on TV - apart from mirrors and a topbox it was exactly the same.. even down to the strange metallic pink/red colour (I may be female but I'd have preferred black)
Wonder where it is now?
