how good do we think it was?

I watched this when it was first on in 1986/1987?.
I liked it without thinking it brilliant.
I recall that the episodes varied a lot in quality, some had good plots and others just bored me.
The guest stars were often interesing,I well remember LYNSEY BAXTER as a leather clad motorcycle riding con artist.
I wonder 1) is there a dvd set available ? and 2) if anybody has such a set how good is it,would I be disappointed if I watched it again?

I always loved it, it was in a similar vein to Minder, another ITV classic. I watched again a few yeasr later and wasn't dissapointed at all, no idea on the DVD though.

This is one of my favourite shows and mostly due to Michael Elphick who portrayed him brillantly. Most of the episodes are very good and the incidental music was also very good.I have all the episodes so i can watch them any time and i do very often.

The show is amazing. Every episode keeps youw anting more. The series has begun to be released on DVD. Series 1 was released 2 years ago. Series 2 is supposed to be released this year near Christmas time. You won't be dissapointed if you purchase it. Unless you are just hard to please.

I remember watching a rerun around 2002/3, it was good. I remember thinking Michael Elphick looked different than he did in Eastenders.
