I love watching the re-runs!!!

I don't recall most of the episodes when I was growing up. But I have been watching it every morning while getting ready for work, and I fallen in love with the show. From the theme song, to the Deacon's antics (he was HILARIOUS), to Thelma's obsession with the reverend to Rawly's sarcasm. I just saw it today and Halle Berry played the deacon's love interest. I miss shows like this on TV. The characters were funny and charming. I have tears everyday from laughter.

Too bad I don't have TV-1 to watch the show. I miss the reruns. I remember when it used to come on tv when I got out of school. My friend and I used to plant ourselves in front of the tube every day just for this showw!

We used to love watching it when it was so popular. I had a crush on Clifton at the time and almost by accident I came across a few episodes the other day flipping through channels. Brought back some fond memories!

I was so happy when Thelma finally got what she had wanted for so long: To be married to Ruben and also to become a mother.

I have yet to think of a signature. When I finally do, I'll include it.

My favorite episode was on yesterday when Thelma blew up the bread in the oven and the reverend and Sherman H. tried to poke the bread and they ended up fall and sat on it like a bingbag. Hilarious!!!!!

I remember vaguely watching this when I was a young kid with the whole family. Such fond memories. The theme song is the s**t! I loved the part when he was jump roping, lol

Like the original poster, I have also completely rediscovered this show by watching it on TV-One in the monrnings while getting ready for work (I workout to it after checking the local news!). :) I remeber this show, but not much about the particular episodes, it's good stuff. I really like TV-One, it's a great channel...

My favorite episode was one called "Wedding Bell Blues." Especially the courtroom scene where the Deacon was attacked and had his clothes ripped off by Telma Hopkins. LOL!

Haha...I know right that is my favorite episode too. Then when the deacon threw up his hat when he won his case. I think Deacon funny moments is when he is in court I love the one where he was trying to show everyone how safe his steps was and ended up falling right on through the display steps.

I agree. I've been watching reruns on Encore Black and this show is great! The Deacon as the greedy atty, Thelma dying to marry the reverend, Rolly as the wisecracking old man, etc.

Of course Sherman Helmsley is the key to the show. I'm surprised this show wasn't more popular because it's really funny!
