Thelma and Rev's Relationship

I think the writers definitely dragged out their storyline way too long. The fact that EVERY TIME they were about to make a commitment to one another and/or get married, the reverend would wimp out or Thelma would go crazy and join the army. I mean, yes, it's a comedic look at fictional characters, but it bordered on being TOO outrageous and as if they couldn't come up with enough reasons to keep people guessing as to whether it was going to happen THIS time. You can only play that card so long before it's just simply tiresome. I don't think they were even married until season 4.

And for god sakes, how come no one ever bought Thelma a cookbook? What kind of wife never learns to cook for her family? The bad cook gag got old, too.

Yeah it went on a long time but they still made it funny. As far as not being able to cook many characters in sitcoms suck at cooking so it's nothing new!

Jesus NEVER existed! He is Judeo Christian MYTH!

It was crazy how they dragged the whole wedding thing throughout the fourth season. Even watching as a ten year old was to much waiting to see what happened each week. Thelma beating up Richard Roundtree, Deacon and Reuben in drag, ping pong balls in Deacon's suitcase, the preacher dying while giving the ceremony. It seemed like the whole arc was about 10 episodes!

Looking back, you could actually understand Thelma's frustration because she was coddled by her dad all her life and never had a sense of purpose, which led her to join the army.

Rev. Didimo(sp) didn't die, he had taken some sedatives, too many, to calm himself on the plane ride, and fell asleep. He'd fallen asleep several times at the Deacon's house and the guys had hoped that he was rested enough to perform the ceremony when they got to the church, but he wasn't.

I don't think getting to the marriage dragged on, just the dating part. Ruben/Thelma were great together!!!
