maybe it's just me but

Thelma and Ernie didn't seem like a father and daughter match to me. I guess after a while I could accept it only because that's just the way the show wrote it. But I could never psychologically accept it.I never really "felt" them as being father and daughter. Every now and then when Ernie would say my "little Girl." I never got a sentimental feeling on that line cause it never seemed real. Rolly seemed more suited to be Thelma's daddy and Ernie more suited to be an Uncle or God Father. It would have been more sentimental to me if Ernie had referred to her as his "favorite little niece" because that would be more believable and no I'm not saying that Ernie didn't do a good job showing fatherly love but they just never really seem like father & daughter to me.

Well it's probably not just you. Back in the 80s it was still a new thing casting African-American families and they did a horrible job of it back then. Looks at Cosbys... all different hair textures, and skin tones. No African-American family would look that way unless there was 5 sets of parents. So no it's not just you.
