Statue

The Statue that Samuel sees at the train station. It shows what appears to be an angel holding up someone by his under arms. Does anyone know what that statue is and what it is depicting or representing? Thanks.

This is the 30th Street station in Philadelphia. I think the statue represents an angel bearing a body representing the war dead.

It represents the Archangel Michael lifting the body of a dead soldier out of battle. It is dedicated to the 1307 former employees of the Pennsylvania RailRoad who died in WWII. Really seems appropriate for something like this in the former "City of Brotherly Love".

The statue of the archangel lifting the body of a dead soldier is also used as a symbolism in the film.

Those of you, who have an eye for detail will have noticed that this is precisely how Eli holds the wounded John Book, as he carries him out of the car later in the film.
