Incorrect plot summary
"policeman John Book goes into hiding in Amish country to protect him until the trial."
He goes into Amish country to protect the family and himself, there's no trial.
I thought the same thing when I read it but maybe it's to avoid spoiling too much. Early in the movie you know the boy is witness to a murder but you don't know that the cops are the bad guys and Harrison Ford is in danger as well.
