30 years since Witness came out.

its been 30 years since Witness came out and it was incredible. Harrison Ford was excellent as Philadelphia cop, John Book who became a #1 target of a corrupt police force after a little amish boy, Samuel Lapp became a witness to murder. the score of Witness was fully electronic and it was done by late french composer Maurice Jarre and Director Peter Weir made this movie shot in eastern United States, outside his home country of Australia.

Yes, Witness opened in theaters on Friday, February 8, 1985, and today is its 30th anniversary. I was going to start a thread about that, but since you began one I'll just add to it. I remember well when it came out, I was 16/17 and in 11th grade, and my family was really into movies. And Harrison Ford was my mother's favorite celebrity, she had all of his previous movies on VHS tapes and wanted to see this one. We did not get to see it that February, but one Saturday in March, 1985 we (my mother, sister, and I) drove over to two malls we often went to in Spartanburg, SC, and one of them had a three screen theater. And as we drove by this mall the sigh in front of it listed what was playing at its theater, and two of the movies were Witness and Return of the Jedi (which was rereleased before its home video release). My mother really became excited when she saw that, and we decided to go to this theater that afternoon. She and I saw Witness, while my sister saw Return of the Jedi (she was a really big Star Wars fan). And I really liked Witness, it got on my favorite movies of all time list, where it has remained ever since. And my mother absolutely loved it, she really praised it after we got out, and it became her favorite movie of all time. She then immidiently got a VHS copy of it when it came out later in 1985 and watched it about six or seven times within two weeks right after it came out. And later in the 1980s she watched it on network TV when it premiered on there. I also watched it on our VCR a few times later in the 1980s, and watched it one time on March 1, 1991. That would be the last time I'd watch it, but I have an apartment and TV and DVD now, and also subscribe to Netflix, and think I'll get it from there and watch it a couple of times this February or March, as I'd really like to see it again after all this time.

Witness later went to Cable Television first aired on Showtime and The Movie Channel as part of Paramount National Pay-Cable Exclusives way back then. and after that, Witness went to Network Television first aired on CBS with footage not shown in the theatrical version of the film.
