Gave me a desire to drive to Lancaster

Anyone else get the urge from watching this movie? I live in hectic NYC, and the Amish and their scenic surroundings offer such a favorable contrast.

yep I would love to shame I just live in another country.

I wonder if it has changed much since 1984? especially these amish farms..

My wife and I took our son to Lancaster with my brother and his family on a vacation as a direct result of my brother's fascination with this film (I hadn't seen it before we went) back in 1986. I have to say that after touring the farms and homes, I was really drawn to the simpler lifestyle that the Amish live. For may weeks after returning home, I found my mind drifting back to that community. It * is * a * compelling * lifestyle...

Is very bad to steal Jobu's rum. Is very bad.

Used to go there frequently while living outside
of Baltimore. A wonderful place totally unlike the rest
of the world.
If you are desperate to get away, this is the place to go.

riding a bike around there would seems like it would be fun.

It looks lovely there. I would hate to see people gawking at the Amish though, that would be a huge bummer.

Let them be. There have been some really crummy reality shows about young people who leave the community.

There was a time when I wanted to visit an amish community too.
