The Barn Building Lunch

Every time I see that scene where they break for lunch during the barn building I get an incredible urge for fried chicken. It looks like they also had some kind of creamed corn dish.

reply

Yep, and warm, freshly made bread.

Me, too! It looked like the fried chicken my grandmother used to make on Friday nights. With hand-mashed potatoes and milk gravy. Drool.

(But note: I made home-cooked fried chicken last year--it was a helluva lot of trouble and made a huge mess. Drive-through window wins.)

Seriously? Fried chicken? It's so easy.

What's this world coming to!

reply

Fried chicken is easy. *Great* fried chicken is another story.

The Amish also have a sweet tooth you wouldn't believe, but it's based on fruit, not candy.

I don't think they eat a meal without a hank of pie to finish it with. If you're ever in Lancaster, pick up a real Amish pie.

Thems some good pies, I reckon.
