Imprison a ballet dancer and expect him to dance with no class?

Dancers take class every day, in addition to rehearsals and other physical training. After his accident and convalescence, the dancer played by Barishnikov in this film would have been out of shape and greatly in need of routine and daily classes if he was going to get in shape to perform. His 'workouts' with Gregory Hines' tap dancer looked interesting, but they were not the kind of training a dancer needs to dance as Barishnikov did in the opening sequence of the film.

It is quite evident that there are workout sessions missing. A 'class' is any session even when performed solo. Ballet, in fact all dance is a very strong minded disipline and one that can be perfected solo or with a tutor.

It is perfectly acceptable with the storyline that he would be able to dance. His' convolensence ' was only a couple of days as his injury was not as the X-rays depicted

Little did I know the net would catch extra stupid in it. skyhawk0 Mar 21 2013
