Not belivable characters

Really, an older couple who lived trough WWII have no knowledge about the destruction and after-effects of the nuclear bomb?

That's my biggest gripe with this film.

The WWII generation had lived trough 40 years of imminent threat of nuclear war when this film was released. They had experienced the Cuba-crisis, Bravo-castle and the Tsar-bomba.

Everyone of that generation was well versed in the if's and buts regarding nuclear war

Not that it would make much of a difference to this retarded couple, they still would have died, but it might have cut down a whole lot of the imbecile dialog (and running-time).

Besides, after all that thorough reading, the man still got the doors wrong. You're supposed to lay just about everything your have on top of those, to create a radiation barrier.

And water in glass-bottles, ready to be smashed by the first hint of tremor?

Come on.....they aren't just naive, they are idiots.

Yes, I know a lot of you love this film, but it doesn't change the fact.

Just about everyone of that generation knew that if there ever was a nuclear war, they would be buggered.

That's because your average couple are idiots. I would think that would be obvious.
