Peace Corps: American Saps Working for Evil Dictators

This movie was true, as in this could really happen, but gave it a happy sappy ending.

The Peace Corps goes to countries that are run down, communist run, and where the people are owned completely by the governments.

We send Americans who think John F Kennedy didn't have a silver spoon the size of ten football fields in his mouth to build bridges, and then after the Americans leave, the dictators take over and use these bridges to further enslave their people. Or whatever we build for the people, once we leave the people benifit NONE by our hard work!

It's like LIVE AID.

We give money to dictators who keep it all, giving little to none to their people.

First thing you have to do is to realize that the GOVERNMENT of these people are TRULY EVIL and won't even let a flower grow without their stomping it.

American Liberals are blind saps.

By the way, notice that the liberal hollywood machine once again makes the American CIA the villain, even more than the drug dealer and the communists.

Go liberal Hollywood!

While the countries we send the Peace Corps to are underdeveloped, they are mostly democracies. It is nothing like throwing money at a problem so it deserves none of the critiques that social welfare receives. The volunteers teach the locals how to do things themselves, they don't just do it for them. The Peace Corps only has a small number of representatives in each area. So the PC volunteers don't build the bridge, they show the locals how to do it themselves. Many of the volunteers serve as teachers. Why would these "evil" governments want their people educated?

Would you rather spend a little money promoting democracy through aid or a ton of money promoting the destabalizing of regions through war? At least they don't leave the area worse than they find it. I don't know what you're worked up about anyway when you say "our hard work". It's not your hard work, its the "blind liberal saps" hard work. A Marine Corps volunteer can save us from 10 enemy combatants. A Peace Corps volunteer can keep a thousand people from becoming enemy combatants. We're all on the same team here, give em a break. Plus, the annual budget for the Peace Corps is less than what it costs to make two F-22s.

Regarding the CIA being the villian; I'm sure they have done many things over the years to keep the US safe, but surely you agree that they do what's best for the US, not what's best for the foreign nations they may be operating in. This world exists in Technicolor, not black and white. Tossed in a movie reference there since this is IMDb.

Ah, yes, the old "Peace Corps is a bunch of pinko commies" argument. Because bombing the crap out of people in any country we want to "liberate" has been working *so* well the past decade.

I think it's especially funny how you claim that Peace Corps helps keep oppressive governments in power, but then your solution is to go in and take away the local government (which has usually been formed by at least *some* of the people in that country) and replace it with a puppet regime of our own. Because, like, that's so much more democratic. Whatever, dude. You just keep right on being part of the problem not the solution.
