Remember the crazy music at the end of the VHS?

Just rewatched this recently after what must have been about 13 years. After the credits are rolling in english over scenes of D riding into the sunset and wandering through ruins thats the end of the movie...obviously.
I had this on VHS originally not long after it was released in the UK. On that version there are no credits over these scenes. I rmember thinking it seemed a little odd at the time just watching D riding for a few minutes, doing nothing. I didn't mind as the music was nice and it was nice animation. One these scenes finished the japanese credits rolled and some crazy (but kinda cool) intro music sprang up which totally did not fit with the tone or style of the first 80 minutes of the film. It was the only thing for me that really stood out of place.
I think it makes sense to have the credits where they are now but must admit I did miss that complete nutcase of an intro that I was used to. Totally bizarre but pretty catchy. Not sure if it was just on the origninal release. I remember all the cool music in the anime I used to have this one was by far the weirdest.

Anyone else remember this?

Was it the one entitled "our song" or "your song" something like that, it read in the credits. Very funny after the 'sad' ending, to have the goofy pop song.

That being said, I have the DVD of VHD: Bloodlust and was watching the Japanese Trailer. They were playing a (yes) Japanese Pop Song during the trailer and I loved the song so much, I downloaded it! Tooku Made by Do As Infinity. Found out later that it was used in the ending credits of the Japanese version of Bloodlust.

Maybe that's the 'anime way', goofy pop songs over ending credits.

"Your Song" at the end of VHD is done by TM Network, the band to which Tetsuya Komoro belonged. Komoro did all the music for the movie. At the time, he and his band were pegged as the next big thing by people at Sony, which is how they got connected to this anime--at least, that was how Mr. Kikuchi told it.

"Tooku Made" by Do As Infinity was probably a similar cross-promotion, although they didn't have anything to do with the rest of the soundtrack. As I recall, it was a last minute addition, as it's not on the workprint I have and I don't recall hearing it when I attended a preview in Tokyo with Mr. K and Mr. Kawajiri. Do As Infinity has since broken up.

Yarp.

Just seen the DVD version... I remember the goofy Jpop ruining the climax of the VHS version, this was much better.

On the DVD, after the America credits roll by, they shift to the Japanese credits, with "Your Song" by TM Network. I like the song. I felt that it cemented its status as an 80's movie. : )
