Zimmerman was part of the scandal Mayor Tyler was embroiled in. Zimmerman was embezzling money and ran off with the pension fund (or something like that). Mayor Tyler claimed he knew nothing about it.

"Zimmerman Flew and Tyler Knew!" is reminiscent of the "Tippecanoe and Tyler, Too!" presidential campaign slogan used by William Henry Harrison (victor in the Battle of Tippecanoe) and his running mate, James Tyler.

Interestingly enough, after the Battle of Tippecanoe, Tecumseh's brother, the Prophet, cursed the US presidency - every president elected in a year ending in zero would die in office. Harrison was the first victim of that curse, dying after only 32 days in office. Since Harrison and until Ronald Reagan, every president elected in a year ending in zero has died in office - William Henry Harrison, James Garfield, Abraham Lincoln, Franklin Roosevelt, William McKinley, John Kennedy, and Warren Harding.
