If Morgan and his family is from Connecticut how did they end up in living in California? His brother was visiting with his car talking about law school, but Connecticut is almost 3000 miles away from Southern California. Did his father really need to move that far away to become a cab driver? lol
shareHis dad lost his business and they couldn't afford to keep there house. Not sure why they chose to relocate in LA though. I don't think that was ever addressed.

I'm thinking Connecticut was too expensive to stay in? That said I'm not American and it is never explained anyway. I guess they just needed a fish out of water theme so that worked.

His Dad probably had a good job opportunity in Real Estate in California after he passed the test for his Real Estate license, and was only working as a cabbie in the meantime.
Not really a "plot hole"; way to many people are crying "plot hole" for any little thing they fail to understand.
It wasn't a plot hole. Just unlikely. The brother could've been wanting an excuse to do a once in a lifetime drive across the country, who knows. Not a plothole though.
A plothole is more like, how did the gang leader not get thrown in jail when he got pulled over in the stolen car? Even that's not a major plothole though, because nothing would've really changed in the storyline either way.
I thought he did get thrown in jail and that was when Spader drives around in his car and picks up his girlfriend and best friend?
