Cliches not taken

A lot of viewers will no doubt list clichés, but there are few NOT in the movie. I really expected Ludie to tell his wife to shut up. well, he didn't exactly. I guess it was a half cliché with him sort of asking them all to get along. So many of today's shows would have had henpecked guy change personality and grow balls. The movie is more realistic. Also, with all the failing health talk, I almost expected the director to have Carrie die out on the old homestead with a satisfied look on her face. Yay for passing on that idiotic cliché. Now about the sweet, understanding fellow passenger played by Rebecca de Mornay, the mean black lady from Seinfeld: that relationship seemed unnatural to me. but I think I'm just too negative. There really are lots of nice, friendly people who will help.

Very true. This trip could have taken the Hallmark Hall of Fame route, but I'm grateful it didn't. I'm equally grateful Rebecca DeMornay didn't start ranting about muffin tops.
