What's worse this, 'Irreversible' or 'The Untold Story'? (nm)

if you mean worse, as in harrowing scenes, then irreversible wins for me

if you mean worse as in bad film, then i prefer irreversible to this, but still think IAGC is an ok film

I have yet to see "Untold Story"--and as someone who generally seeks out challenging/"disturbing films," I appreciate the mention--but as far as this vs. "Irreversible," they're both very disturbing, but it's kind of like comparing apples to oranges. It's kind of a question of overall atmosphere vs. singular moments, really.

Still, as far as pure, in-your-face brutality, I am still pretty shaken by--and know many people who feel the same way--about "Irreversible."

I haven't seen IAGC yet.

But, between "Irreversible" and "The Untold Story", I think "Irreversible" is a better film, but in terms of content that is unbearably disturbing, "The Untold Story" is far worse. I still think that that film is the most disturbing film I've seen outside of some actual death videos I've seen online, which have marked me and made any narrative fiction seem light by comparison.

"The Untold Story" seems like real, small children had to have been thouroughly tormented and frightened out of their minds to make the film. The overall movie is not too bad, but there is one sequence, a long scene, that depicts an entire family being viciously murdered one by one in front of each other in incredibly graphic detail, and the small kids ( some of whom are young toddlers) appear to be really crying and screaming in sheer terror for what seems like an eternity. We see a woman partially stripped and molested in front of the kids, we see a little girl appear to be urinating in her pajamas (in a vile closeup), and we see children being slashed and chopped while screaming by a large cleaver. A tiny two or three year old boy has a broken bottle shoved into his neck and blood pours out. A little girl has her head chopped off. It is unspeakably vile stuff. Shown in lingering, exploitative detail. The filmmakers there really sought to push the limits of almost anyone with that one. I actually felt guilty after watching it. I have never forgotten it after seeing it only once, and I won't watch it again. The film also has such choice bits as a woman being manhandled and then raped with a handful of chopsticks (though that is mostly implied), and a guy biting his own wrist open to attempt suicide. Oh gosh, it is such an ugly film. And these painful moments are intercut with several ridiculous scenes of bumbling cops and their corny jokes and a very sexist treatment of a female cop that is supposed to be funny but is actually cruel. This film should win an award for most unapologetically sexist movie ever. Anyway, it is strong, strong stuff. "Irreversible" is strong too, but in a much more moral way. I was very moved by "Irreversible", in spite of its horrors. "The Untold Story" seems like exploitation of the lowest kind.

I can't see to find The Untold Story on IMDb.

I thought The Untold Story was more disturbing because Irreversible and In A Glass Cage used colorful cinematography and a plot that dealt with mostly less disturbing matters than Untold Story. The Untold Story created a suspenseful atmosphere starring Anthony Wong in a great performance as an truly messed up protagonist
