The Slowed-Down Time

The part where Jack uses his watch to slow down time, pick up Leena, and runs off, he first stops to stare at Whistler. He could easily, and I mean easily have killed Whistler right there, and mission complete. He could've picked her up, pulled out his gun, shot Whistler while holding Leena, then drove off.

Hmm, I think you're onto something!!

Surely we're missing something. Why would he not have!?

reply

Oh, I get it. That's sarcasm, isn't it? Wow, never thought I would've encountered that on this website.

No sarcasm there, mate. Maybe he was just concentrating on saving the innocent girl.

Jack probably felt then he couldn't take that chance if the Detective's body was a husband or father, and technically an innocent in this situation, even if he's possessed by Whistler.

He probably could've injected him with the fluid though.

Jack explained it. He did not have enough time to kill whistler and save Leena - and himself because the other policemen would have shot them.

Yeah, after all, it only slows one second to ten. Okay, in screen time it's a little longer, but still... Dramatic licence, etc, etc.... :)

He didn't have enough time the first time around, but he did have enough time the 2nd time around. He should've popped a couple of bullets into Whistler or pushed him off while jumping down to save Leena. He surely had enough time.

He had 90 seconds the first time (LOL). What actually ended up making more sense was the family angle: the possessed guy was truly an innocent man, with a family at home. Exorcising him of Whistler, not killing his animal body, was the morally right thing to do. I wish they'd have gone with that instead of the "not enough time" thing. It would have raised the tension in most of the movie, too, by creating a moral quandary.
