thunder alley soundtrack

hey ive been looking for a soundtrack to this movie for 20 years anyone ever seen one please let me know thanks

reply

I don't think there was ever an official soundtrack released to this film.

If you go to http://www.hollywood.com/movies/fulldetail/id/230950 and scroll to the bottom of the screen it lists all the songwriters/musicians involved.

I've done some research and found no information on the record label, etc.

But the next time I watch the movie I'll look at the end credits. If there is a soundtrack it should say "soundtrack available on MCA records" for instance.
Otherwise I don't think there was one.

I thought I was the only one searching for the soundtrack since the movie was released. If anyone finds it I would like to know as well.

They never made one. This was fom back in the days when not everything got released as a soundtrack, too. I've worked in various Music stores since before this movie came out, and if it had been released, believe me, I would have bought it myself.

Usually, when one does exsist, you can tell because at the end of the credits, after they show you what all the songs were (and so on), it will say something along the lines of...
SOUNDTRACK AVAILABLE ON (blank) RECORDS
...and there is no such listing.

However, many of the songs that were used in the movie have been released by the original artists who wrote/recorded them, and a good number of those years before appearing in this movie...

"Danger Danger" - by Frankie Miller, appeared on his album STANDING ON THE EDGE (1982)

"Do You Feel Alright" - by Gary West & Van Mclain, appears on their band Shooting Star's album 3 WISHES (1983)

"Just Another Pretty Boy" - by Gary O'Conner, who also goes by the name Gary O, appeared on his album STRANGE BEHAVIOR (1984). There's also a version of the song by the Eric Martin Band on thier album SUCKER FOR A PRETTY FACE (1983).

"Heart To Heart" and "Can You Feel My Heartbeat" - By Amy Kanter, appear on her album OTHER GIRL (1980).

"Can't Look Back" - by Scott Shelly (who was also a music supervisor for the film, and a guitarist who taught Randy Rhoads)and Jeff Porcaro (of Toto) appeared on the self-titled album Scott's one time band THE STRAND (1980).
He also co-wrote the song "Sometimes In The Night" that is in the movie, but I've yet to find that on anything. There's also a good chance that while not credited, it is Scott who does the majority of the lead guitar playing you hear Roger Wilson's charcter playing in the movie.

"Surrender" and "Give Me Back My Heart" - by Surgical Steel, who were a real band and did put out a record, but neither of these songs are on it. The singer - Jeff Martin (is friends with Judas Priest's Rob Halford who appeared on thier album )- later went on to drum for the band RACER X, of which he is still a member.

Hopefully this gives you at least something else to look for.

QUOTE: The singer - Jeff Martin (is friends with Judas Priest's Rob Halford who appeared on thier album )- later went on to drum for the band RACER X, of which he is still a member.

That's not entirely accurate. Jeff Martin is the singer in Surgical Steel in the movie. Surgical Steel was a real metal band, that was popular in the Phoenix area. That's where Rob Halford and Jeff became friends...mainly due to the obviously similarities in their vocals. Jeff quit Surgical Steel to join Racer X as the lead singer. Scott Travis (Judas Priest) is the drummer of Racer X. Jeff did go on to be the drummer of Badlands, with Jake E. Lee.

Thunder Alley is true in the sense that the people behind the music business...SUCK! Artists take in the shorts....even more so today. Quite sad.

You can see some clips from Thunder Alley and read about Surgical Steel here.

Thanks to a fan (Ozzygeezer) over on another forum I'm a member of, he put together an excellent soundtrack of all the songs. After downloading it, I fixed them up even more (the bass level needed evening out, as well as the intro/endings, some sound hiccups were fixed, and I put proper titles and properties information in each), so there is now an unofficial soundtrack for fans. Here are the songs:

01) Roger Wilson - Interlude (Instrumental)
01) Lief Garrett and Phil Brock - Danger Danger (Live)
03) Lief Garrett and Phil Brock - Do You Feel Alright (Live)
04) Lief Garrett - Can You Feel My Heartbeat (Live)
05) Roger Wilson - Heart To Heart (Live)
06) Roger Wilson and Lief Garrett - Sometime In The Night (Live)
07) Roger Wilson and Lief Garrett - Just Another Pretty Boy (Live)
08) Roger Wilson and Lief Garrett - Can't Look Back (Live)
09) Robert Folks - Heart To Heart (Instrumental)
10) Frankie Miller - Danger Danger (Bonus)
11) Shooting Star - Do You Feel Alright (Bonus)
12) Amy Kanter - Can You Feel My Heartbeat (Bonus)
13) Amy Kanter - Heart To Heart (Bonus)
14) The Strand - Can't Look Back (Bonus)
15) Gary O' - Just Another Pretty Boy (Bonus)
16) Eric Martin Band - Just Another Pretty Boy (Bonus)

All songs have crowd cheering and such, but not character dialog cutting over them. Just great music. If you would like a copy, e-mail me at [email protected] and I will share a download link for the rar'd soundtrack.
