Still no blu-ray

Still no blu-ray release of this masterpiece. My old blu-ray thread is gone, so I decided to make a new one. Just release this film on the (by now) standard HD format. Thie film is a momentous achievement. It deserves to be seen.

Agreed I'd love a bluray, but you can't even buy it on dvd locally here in Australia. Ebay's your best bet. Which is a real shame because I think it deserves wider recognition. To think I only heard about Threads a few months ago.

I would buy a Blu Ray Day 1.

Would a blue-ray really be any better than the DVD?

I mean, the quality and sound isn't superb to begin with, so I believe that you would get a grainy blue-ray with bad/fair sound.

Without re-mastering etc, I cannot see the advantage.

I have the DVD, which I bought 10 years ago, it's fine.

If they would collect some more British nuclear related stuff and bundle it on BL, it would be cool. (debates, the other documentaries, like the war game and QED, the actual instructions sent on TV, various planned speeches from prime-ministers and royals and so ion).

It was shot on 16 mm so it would look really fantastic on blu-ray. They just need to scan the negative in 2k or 4k resolution. The british have released most of their classics on blu-ray, but this one is strangely absent. This movie and A Matter of Life and Death (1946) are missing, and perhaps a few more. The DVD of Threads is by today's standards very lackluster, and this seminal film deserves better treatment.
