Is this wrong?

That I've watched Threads so much...that not only do I know it word for word, I also find it funny...apart from that hospital scene, that screaming is pretty unpleasant.

Sometimes I watch till the bomb then rewind to the start...'Attack warning red? It's for bloody real!'....'In an urban society, everything connects'.

I'm sick aren't I? I know I am...:)

I even live in Sheffield...I'm a threads fanboy...sometimes I watch The Day After.

Usually it's Threads...

reply

don't know if you're sick or not, but you're braver than I am. I have Threads on my desktop and I usually have to take a deep breath before I press play, and even then I usually can't watch more than a couple minutes at a time. I have a morbid fascination with post apocalyptic movies, but this one is too real for me. I grew up having nightmares about nuclear war and this takes me back. It's still an amazing accomplishment that any movie could make me feel that way.

reply

It mirrors the inside of my soul perfectly...I love the blacker than night humour.

The swirling winds of the firestorm is like music to my ears...'Have you seen our Mandy'?

It's a great film.

reply

Come on, admit it... the more you watch the film, the funnier it gets. Being from Sheffield, do you recognize anything?

"I'm a vehemently anti-nuclear, paranoid mess, harbouring a strange obsession with radioactive sheep."

Anyone that would watch this over and over and find enjoyment w/ this type of movie probably has some serious emotional problems and more than likely causes some form of harm to themselves like cutting, pulling hair or maybe even takes enjoyment in harming others. I really feel sorry for you and hope you can find more pleasant things to do w/ your time. This is just my opinion & whatever you do, if you feel a sense to harm someone, please seek help.

Well, the film obviously had an emotional impact on you, or you wouldn't watch it so much, and laughter is a very common way to digest the horrific (ever meet a paramedic?), so not that surprising! I also imagine you're probably too young to have grown up in the 80's when this was all too real...

im a fan of horror but I find this hard to take but have watched it more than once , its the same with martyrs

im not your buddy guy, im not your GUY buddy, im not your buddy guy

I would totally say you are one sick *beep* that need to get your issues sorted.

reply

Honestly iamthehollow, you want your bloody head seeing to.

reply

Nah, its not wrong. It is a horror movie for big boys who are not impressed by latex monsters or skull faced slashers.

Late reply I'm sorry, I didn't think to look for replies.

So in summery, yes I recognise a lot of the places in Threads, they knocked that City Hall building down in the early 00's though so it's lost one of its creepy mausoleums...oh and Woolworths, you see that blow up.

I've stopped watching Threads now...I've not watched it for about ten months...oh and no I'm not young, I grew up with all this horrible oppressive stuff...in Sheffield.
