In need of a remake

If could buy the rights, I would remake it myself. Atleast I have more of a love for the book then Estevez does who just wanted to show off in the film and didnt even play the character right.

Couldn't agree with you more, Dexter. It's a great book that deserved a much better screen adaptation, but unfortunately Estevez cornered the rights specifically because he wanted to play Mark, a role he was completely wrong for. Estevez is a fine actor but this was not his part.

Not to mention the movie completely missed the point by doctoring the ending to make it happier. You have to ask yourself if Estevez understood the book at all!

On the other hand, the very talented Craig Sheffer was perfectly cast as Bryon, and he was one of the few bright spots in the film, especially given what he had to work with in castmates and writing.

Hopefully someday it will be remade with a more appropriate lead and a script that stays true to the book's message.
