I Haven't seen this yet but I want to buy it, I was just wondering why is it R rated? The book didn't seem too bad.

About 17 f-words, and some mild fight scenes. It would be suitable for ages 12 and up.

There is a lot of drug references/usage in it also.

"Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?"
"Germans?"
"Forget it, he's rolling."

Its probably because if a movie has drug reference in it, then it gets an automatic PG-13 rating and this movie had that along with some cussing and violence.
