Is the kid in the yellow shirt who doesn't say anything Ponyboy?

Some people said it is supposed to be Ponyboy. I guess we'll never know because he never speaks or is referred to as Ponyboy. but it's fun to imagine.

Well, I believe the Shephards are from "Rumblefish."

Even though Ponyboy Curtis does have a small, supporting role in the book, he doesn't appear (or even get mentioned) in the movie.
