Has anyone heard of this?

I'm the only one I know who's seen this, or even heard about this movie. Has anyone seen this movie?

reply

Yes i actually bought it. I read the book and really liked it so i wanted to see the movie. I tryed to rent it but NOONE had it so i ended up just buying it from ebay for like 2 bucks.

If you liked this one i would suggest 'The Outsiders' if you havent already seen it. Its by the same person so it has some of the same characters. Its kinda like what is going on on the otehr side of town. When you watch it you will reconize some people from That Was Then This is Now.

I am reading the book now. So I havent finished yet. But I have read The Outsiders and really enjoyed it. Im in 12th grade and they just didnt know what to read. So finally my teacher says That was than, this is now and just hands us all the books. When I read the Outsiders, right away i was stuck in the book and reading ahead of the whole class in 10th grade. And ever since I wondered if Hinton, S. E made anymore books but didnt bother checking. Now I am just finishing her book That was than, this is now and even though the clas is still on chapter 5, once again I am ahead of everyone else. But I wonder if anyone knows any of her other books they would concerder I read? If there is anymore ofcourse.

Other books of S E Hinton is:
Rumble Fish
Tex
Taming The Star Runner

they are very much alike...in style at least as The Outsiders and That was then, this is now.
I have read Tex and Rumble Fish and I can recommend them.

Tex was awesome..was that the one where(in the book)they run into a hitchiker with a gun?

reply

Yes thats the one :)

The hitchhiker with the gun in Tex is actually Mark from That Was Then... This Is Now. In the book he tells Tex and Mason he has "unfinished business" which is presumably to kill Bryon. Mark is killed and later Cathy Carlson is seen at his funeral.

The book also makes it seem that Tex and Mark are half-brothers. They have the same cowboy father.

Read the book AND watch the film. Then you yourself can compare.
