The wolf is clearly a metaphor for testosterone/masturbation

The scene in the bathroom with his dad outside, just before the "talk" clearly supports this. Scott basically just jizzed in his hands, and is quickly trying to clean up.

I always figured it was a fun idea for a movie about a kid that goes from Zero to Hero because he's a Werewolf. I highly doubt the film makers were thinking about masturbation enough to make it a hidden theme in the movie. That's one of those things you have to WANT it to mean.
