The basketball scenes and talk bug me.

Scott shooting a jumpshot from the foul line and talking about his "bad outside hookshot" are a couple examples.

MJF didn't appear much of a bball player to me. At 5'4", he would have trouble getting ANY shot off against even average sized players.

And who takes "outside hook shots"??? Maybe Kareem did, but certainly not someone of MJF's stature.

He had to jump to shoot free throws b/c he wasn't big enough to make just standing in place.

Still my favorite MJF movie tho : )

I would think you'd have somebody on set who knows basketball considering it's a pretty major part of the movie.

It's hard to pick my fave MJF movie. Doc Hollywood, Secret of my Success, Greedy, Back to the Future are all good ones.

Fromm a basketball standpoint, this movie is a joke. MJ Fox is so little that he has to jump while shooting free throws, Tubby would never make any basketball team at any level. The rims in the gym are bent. Its pretty bad.

reply

You can't knock the bent rims. I played in some old gyms in the 80s that really did have bent rims, and we just figured that was a battle scar for having been dunked on.

reply

Yeah, Tubby wouldn't make one trip down the floor without needing medical help.

Oh and the final two free throws where his nemesis is under the basket staring him down? Give me a break.

reply

Ok naysayers..I went school with a kid named junior McGowan who, was 5'6-5'7 , and he could hang with anyone on the court. And He made a lot of baskets. So size (no pun) didn't matter in this case.
