Makes no sense: Why would he choose boring Boof over gorgeous Pamela?

Pamela was blonde, vivacious, gorgeous, and exciting.

Boof was the typical, boring, plain-Jane type.

No hetero guy would actually choose Boof if he could have a stunning, ultra-feminine beauty such as Pamela.

At least Pretty in Pink got this right, in having Molly Ringwald end up with the alpha male whom she was pursuing, rather than with the second-choice beta male "Ducky."

This movie should have ended the same way -- with Michael Fox getting the girl of his dreams, just as Molly Ringwald got the guy of her dreams.

It's rather demeaning to imply that an underappreciated guy should only aspire to his second choice of girl, while an underappreciated girl can win her first choice of guy.

Well she was gorgeous and blonde but can't agree with the others. She had no friends, she just sat at the basketball games going over her scripts, and at the dance she dressed like she was at a funeral and stood around like an old woman instead of dancing and enjoying herself.

Boof was the typical, boring, plain-Jane type.

She knew how to have more fun than Pamela. She got involved at the party and the dance, and she was all over Scott in the closet, and in the corridor at the dance.

I fancied Pamela but I'd choose Boof over her anytime, and many people I talk to about the movie agree. There's even a thread on this very board where a lot of the posters say they fancy Boof more.

Fly? Yes. Land? No.

Have to agree. Pamela was the hot one, aloof and alluring. Boof was just wallpaper.

The comparison with Pretty in Pink is interesting. That film wouldn't have been appealing if the girl had gotten stuck with Ducky, just as here the guy gets stuck with Boof. An ending in which he ends up with Pamela would have been much more satisfying. They gave Pamela a bit of a redemption arc anyway, and they could have taken that all the way, having her end up with Michael J Fox, just as Molly Ringwald's guy in Pretty in Pink gets his redemption arc and ends up with her.

no, Pamela was a funny looking overly made up nothing--Boof was MUCH more attractive

lol, Boof had the more attractive personality, but I'd have preferred her even if the personality was worse.

Give me a cute dark-haired Mediterranean with the most beautiful smile any day over the skinny blonde who looked like she was about to have a mental breakdown in any minute.

Looking at your posting history you said The Cable Guy defines your life and that you want to suck Nina Dobrev's eyeballs.

Are you sure you're not having a mental breakdown?

Just Blue Sweeeeeeet!

How is Pamela 'skinny'?: https://uproxx.files.wordpress.com/2013/07/teen-wolf-pamela.jpg?quality=90&w=650

We seem to throw away that tag around all the time these days with respect to any woman who doesn't look like Melissa McCarthy or Amy Schumer.

Still, Pamela's problem was never her looks. She did, IMHO, look fine, and NOT skinny. But she was also a complete a-hole, who would have dumped Scott once she'd got bored with the novelty of a basketball star/werewolf for a boyfriend.

This. Also, personally, I would have been done with her after the bowling alley. She was clearly a promiscuous succubus at that point.

Pamela was the best.

All Pamela cared about was image. To an extent, she used both Mick and Scott. Mick was a big shot high school basketball player on a championship team and was only with him because of that. She rejected Scott numerous times before he became the wolf, and the wolf was only reason why she was with him. Even when Mick lost the championship game, she blew him off. When Scott won the championship, she wanted him for that sole purpose. You can bet the next season if they went back to "suck mode" (which most likely would have happened since they didn't believe in themselves until the championship game), she would ditch him.

Boof has always cared about Scott. She cared about his well being, long before he became the wolf. He realized that in the end when he decides to not be the wolf anymore. Everyone else wanted the wolf because it was trendy, she just wanted Scott because she knew he was a good guy deep down.

I would rather have someone who loved me unconditionally and stuck with me through thick and thin, rather than someone who just saw me as social status, used me, and then ditched me for the next big thing.

Well said.

I agree Pamela would have been fun for the moment but boof will stick by your side for the journey. I think I rather go with boof, besides looks change over years and I think I'll take my chances with someone I'll be happy with.

reply

Did you not watch the movie? Pam didn't care about Scott at all but only the hype centered around the Wolf. So if Scott had chosen her she would have likely rode out high school with him than dumped him for some bigger college jock a few years later.

Leaving Scott to mourn in regret of letting Boof get away for the rest of his life. Boof was the one who cared about him the most.

reply

Boof liked him for who he was. She would not have dumped him down the road.
