Anyone remember the NBC Sunday Night Movie version of Teen Wolf?

The version shown on NBC back in December of 1987 was the best version of Teen Wolf ever shown, in my opinion. It had two scenes that were deleted form the theatrical version-I can't understand why these two scenes were ever deleted in the first place. They are arguably the two best scenes in the movie! The scenes I am refereeing to are after Scott walks Boof home, he is chased down the sidewalk by a pack of neighborhood dogs, only to be saved by Daisy the dog. A wonderful scenes that was both entertaining and touching. Why was this scene deleted in the editing room? A huge blunder by the editors. The other scene is after the dance, Scott has a conversation with his Dad on the front porch of their house, telling him he can't be the wolf anymore because he is afraid of what might happen. Again, a terrific scene that should have never been deleted. Teen wolf is one of my favorite films of all time, and I feel it would have been even greater if these two scenes were not deleted from the theatrical release. And to make matters worse, there has never been a DVD released for Teen Wolf with special features and deleted scenes. I hope somebody associated with this great movie sees my message and takes it to heart. Let's get a proper special edition Blu-Ray/DVD produced asap. I think that would be awsome. Thanks.

Thank you for bringing this up! I have an old VHS tape of this version. Fantastic stuff. Both scenes add a heart-warming little layer to the film.

I remember them. I could definitely watch it over and over. Great Movie.

Maybe Shout Factory will do it.
The director uploaded a full length commentary for the movie on his website. I downloaded it a long time ago, but have not figured out how to sync it to the movie - it's too long to burn to a CD. I guess I could cut it and make it 2 CDs.

If these deleted scenes are on YouTube I can't find them. That MTV show makes it hard to search for anything with the 1985 movie.

It's on Starz right now and I ended up watching a good chunk of it.

I didn't even know they existed. They would add to the movie, and I'd like to see them in a DVD reissue.

They are real easy to find. Just Google 1985 Teen Wolf deleted scenes and a window for youtube comes up. Click that and then you will see four deleted scenes on the right. I think the scenes talked about here are number two and four on the list. They're not that great as someone is holding a camera to they're old TV but you can see them well enough to know what's going on. This person taped it from a USA Network broadcast.

I didn't think I had ever seen these scenes or this version before either, but as I was watching I knew that I had at some point over the years.

I remember the 1987 version. I used to have it on a VHS tape.

There are reason why scenes like that don't make the final cut. They either bog down the film, don't fit or feel repetitive. A good example is Fast Times at Ridgemont High. When it premiered on TV, there were many scenes added in since the film was fairly racy and to fill two hours. Amy Heckerling said that many of the scenes in that TV version were not in the theatrical version because they felt repetitive. Caddyshack also added scenes into the TV version that really didn't fit.

Of the scenes in the TV version of Teen Wolf, the one I think the one that stands out is when he is on the porch with Daisy talking to his dad and saying he will stop being the wolf. All of the other added scenes are fairly throwaways, but that is a matter of personal preference.

Thanks for the heads up, I never knew of those scenes, they do indeed seem like they should never have been cut from the film.
