Dillon

He is really bad in this film.
If my mother was kidnapped I believe I could manage more than just a look of bemusement.

I have to agree. I caught this on AMC and his punk teenager act or whatever that is totally ruins the movie.

Movie good

Dillon horrible..where did he pick up that two cent Brooklyn accent in Europe?

Desgraciada

Yeah, the movie wasn't bad (although not great, either), but Dillon's hammy acting definitely brought it down a couple notches.

I don't think he was that bad...no,he's no De Niro, but he worked hard at bringing some life into the character. You have to remember this was pretty early in his career too.

he was awesome. but its yer opinion

The movie didn't suck, but his performance was laughable and just plain way too overacted and I guess horrible..

I though he was bad in this too and i usual like him. He was also i little annoying. 5/10

I know this is more than 5 yrs after the OP but I don't think Dillons performance was any worse than some other actors I've seen in similar roles.

He does well with an underwritten part and as far as his accent -that's really reaching , there is nothing New York about it or for that matter anything distinct to indicate any type of region in the US

All in all, I liked the movie quite a bit, but the portrayal of Dillon's character detracted (for me) from what was otherwise a pretty enjoyable movie.

I don't think it was entirely Dillon's fault. I usually like him, but the character of the son came out as a hysterical, self-centered brat. Even taking into account his immaturity, the son's smug, melodramatic reactions didn't ring true.

The movie seemed to want us to sympathize with the son, (probably aiming to appeal to younger viewers) but he was an irritating twit. Maybe that was the point: Hackman trying to save his wife while his childish twenty-something son is busy working through his "issues".

I just got fed up with his whiny neediness: "I know my mother has been kidnapped and people are trying to kill my dad, but what about MY needs? No one is listening to ME! Doesn't anyone care how I feel?"
