Interesting Chemistry

I just watched this, in its entirety, recently (huge Zuniga fan :)

What interesting chemistry, ironically. Zuniga and Cusack are perfectly cast. And the best twist is the alter-common cliche': Boy desiring what he thinks he wants (the sure thing - hot model), then realizing that what has been in front of him IS his Sure Thing.

Also, Cusack's common classic self esteem buster against Zuniga's anal-retentive honor-student personae is solid.

Another classic case example of guys not 'getting it'; wonderfully portrayed here by Reiner :)

Totally agree with every word you said.

The ending reminded me of the ending of American Pie.

Zuniga and Cusack were indeed perfect. Cusack in particular always seems to have the best chemistry with the ladies in his films (this is probably his best on-screen pairing along with Say Anything).

Hey there, Johnny Boy, I hope you fry!

Their brilliant chemistry is what stops this film descending into Porkys type fare.

To be fair, Zuniga was his first choice, he had the hots for her and tried to put the moves on her in the beginning. But she wasn't interested because she had a boyfriend, so he understandably decided to let it go and try to get some action elsewhere. The only reason he was going for "the sure thing" was that he was tired of repeatedly getting shot down by every girl he approached.

In my opinion "Say Anything" borrowed from this film quite a bit.
