Star of the Show

Alexia Sayle plays a motorcycle cop in this film and it is worth
watching just for his part in it.
He is bloody hilarious!

lol yes i totally agree, especially when peter richardson tells him to eff off and he reverses round the corner, then you just see his front wheel come into view! hilarious.

What's that? You just called me a bastard didn't you!

I think the whole cast helped make the film hilarious, but the Star of the Show is Robbie Coltrane for his walk along the sea wall - amazing.

^^^ Agreed. That scene was brilliant. :O Robbie Coltrane was ace in this film, as was everyone else.

The scene with Robbie Coltrane was definitely the film's highlight, although I think the best character was Commander Robertson (Ronald Allen). The whole gag with him walking in dressed as Dracula and the religious stuff later on is classic.

deffinitely a 'Tarrantino moment' before Tarrantino !!

Cue Frankie soundtrack and the big guy striding the wall - we looked at this in slow motion from the box set, and there's no safety wire or anything and two or three 'major' waves hit him full on - looks like they filmed it once but from different cameras and angles then cut it altogether - but is an excellent piece of 'action'- They'd never get him to do that now he's an established star!!

I've been to Hope Cove and tried walking the wall- and as soon as I saw the first big wave heading towards me I turned round - one day I'll try again!

I watched The Supergrass for the first time today and I loved it...everyone was brilliant in it... I loved Ade Edmondson as Dennis Carter...so ridiculously sweet and naive...and Nigel Planer in suspenders made me laugh And Alexei Sayle as well...playing an annoying but funny character like he did in The Young Ones Perfect film.

alexi's scenes are among the most side splittingly funniest ive ever seen. i cannot control myself the second after he says this line "and you see what happens is bam" what follows that line kills me everytime.

I think everyone who appeared in this film was the star.

Besides the 3 main characters Id also mention these other brilliant players..

The rubbish DJ at the dancehall who couldnt play a record till the end (listen to what he does with Phylis Nelsons Move Closer)

The two children "Sweets are bad for your teeth" Nigel Planner, Aye so's a smack in the mouth! And when Troy dumped that whining kid in the sandcastle pool I nearly choked.

Keith Allen & Nigel Planner's cross dressing gangster couple

Daniel Peacock getting his arse slapped behind the rocks in between doing a 'bit of heroin dealing'

The late Ronald Allens Dracula dressing superintendent. Brilliant!

Alexi's motorcycle cop. Enough said!

The chainsaw welding violent Det.Sgt Troy (who can forget that walk along the wall to Two Tribes)

The two coppers who arrested Dennis were also extremely funny (the late Michael Elphick)

I wish Rik Mayall had been in it too as he was an essential part of the Comic Strip Presents but I suppose we cant have everything. I have seen this gem of a comedy countless times and I never tire of watching it. It always makes me laugh. Right up there with Fawlty Towers.

Jaaaaack!...I aint putting decent villians inside for a lousy oner from the police fund!
