WHEN THEY ARE IN THE BOAT AND LAURIE...

WANTS TO GO PLAY IN THE BASEMENT WITH YEARGO OR WHATEVER HIS NAME IS, DID ANYONE ELSE HEAR A VOICE CHANGE? ANYONE KNOW WHY?

reply

My sister and I have laughed over that for years. It's so terribly obvious that they had to do a voice over there. I don't know why -- maybe you couldn't understand what the little girl said? Anyway, it's the worst adult trying to sound like a kid ever.

Summer Rental is one my favorite 80's movies, but that creepy voice has haunted me since it came out. The movie just came on HBO and when I hear that horrible voice again I had to log on here and see if I was crazy the past 2 decades. LOL

It's so creepy! I just watched this last night and I noticed it again.

I guess they couldn't get that girl to say she wanted to play in the basement with the creepy old man...

And in the end it just becomes far worse. Some one should make a short film about this.

Just the thought of my 5 year old playing with a creepy old man anywhere turns my stomach.

By the way, boats don't have basements. It's called the hull.

omg Thanks for the replies, I thought maybe I was crazy, I was watching this on HBO and kept rewinding it, thanking WTF, you know I had like 3 people come in the room and make sure I wasnt crazy..How bizarre I think that little girl is probably haunted by that, I am not being judgemental but how many parents let there kids play in the basement with an old man they dont know that well
EWWWW

They don't have her say that line, but when they first go to eat at the Barnacle, Laurie can say "This place sucks!"

LOL, Now that the movie is on HBO everyday now, I have to mute that part, it goes right thru me now. By the way, I would love to know who on that boat can toss a giant freezer up in the air and into the water. Maybe it was the creepy old man?????? Kinda reminded me of an old Jeffery Daumer getting rid of the evidence.

Our family watched this movie over Christmas break and almost died laughing at that scene. What a terrible dub! If the little girl hadn't said her lines correctly in the first place, they should've just left it out of the movie.

The movie is on HBO now and the demon spoke through her about 5 minutes ago, I logged on to see if anyone else had commented.

If they had to go through the trouble of a voiceover then why did they keep that bit to begin with? I haven't seen this movie in years, so I will keep watching to see if Yorku comes up from the basement alive.

I have seen this movie at least a dozen times on TV, but I never noticed the creepy voice. Thanks for the laughs!
