Other underground (literally) movies
Subway is one of my favorite movies and I generally love movies that play underground, in the subway etc. Do you know any movies that are similar?

I highly recomend the hungarian movie "Kontroll". In many ways it is very similar to Subway, and no doubt, Subway was an inspiration for "Kontroll". But there is more crazyness and humor about Kontroll and the movie has a higher pace and the visuals and musics are extreemely well made. I saw the movie at a film festival in Copenhagen two years ago, I was deepely impressed by the movie.
A man's attitude goes some ways toward how a man's life will be.
One that sticks out in my mind is "Death Line/Raw Meat"

This thread seems to get one response per year. Please hold off on any further responses until 2008. Thanks
Not similar to Subway in content, but there is a movie called Dark Days, which documents the lives of people who live in the subway tunnels. It's an interesting movie.
Do The Mussolini! Headkick!
hey nuwavghost, I bought dark days on dvd a few years back. it's really good, i'm a big fan of dj shadow who gave the thumbs up for them to use his music for the soundtrack.
i seem to enjoy underground/subway movies so I'm definitely going to be hunting for Subway. others I like are, The warriors (obvious classic) and style wars (which is a documentary about graffiti, but is still worth a watch if you know nothing about the culture).
from what I remember kontroll was very interesting, although I wasn't able to watch all of it. i'll see if i can think of any others, i am sure that i have seen more.
It's not a subway movie in general but I would recommend Dressed to kill, it has a pretty impressive subway scene!
shareAlso:
"Underground", a truly outstanding film about a group of people living underground in communist Yugoslavia,
because they are led to believe that WW2 is still going on!
Highly recommended!

Diva (1981) has a great metro chase. It is inconceivable that Besson would not have been aware of that when making this film.
Taking of Pelham 123 has large part set in the subway.
There is a movie called CREEP starring Franka Potente that takes place almost entirely in the London subway. It is a horror movie, however.
Not the same genre, but 'The Taking Of Pelham One, Two, Three' (1974) is an awesome subway movie.

and arthouse. A film is a goddam film.-
