I had no idea that this was Lucy!

I was six years old when this movie was on TV, and for some reason my parents let me stay up late to watch this. I loved it! And it also made me really feel for the plight of homeless people.

But it wasn't until I was looking at Lucille Ball's filmography just now that I realized that she was the star in it! I was certainly familiar with I Love Lucy, but I didn't realize that they were the same actress!

I haven't even fully processed this yet, but I feel like I've just discovered a new side of Lucille Ball!

Isn't it amazing what a six-year-old can miss?

i never knew it was lucy either. i'm sure that's why my mom had us watch this when i was five, but now she doesn't remember it. i'll have to tell her it had lucy in it and that may jog her memory.

Lucy actually had some dramatic roles before her I LOVE LUCY days. One she was particularly good in (and one of Ball's own favorite performances) was THE BIG STREET, with Henry Fonda.

Well I was 22 when this came on TV so I knew it was Lucy! But I have a weirder memory.

In 1974 when "Mame" was released we drove past the movie marquee that said "Lucille Ball in MAME".

As an 11 year-old I knew that to 'maim' someone was "to wound seriously, disable". (Not sure why I knew that.) But I guess I didn't know the spelling so I saw MAME and though Lucy was in a horror movie!

It was years later I finally read "Auntie Mame" and then saw both films.

That's funny - Lucy in a slasher movie! Though had she lived long enough, you could have probably talked her into a role in one of the 'Scary Movie' comedy ones.

I never saw the movie till the mid-90's when it aired on Lifetime in the afternoon. I didn't know it was her at first. If I hadn't seen her eyes when she got up off the grate she was sleeping on in the beginning I wouldn't have known it was her.

After all the flack she got with the critics and Bea Arthur about her doing "Mame". I can understand why it took her 11 years to do this movie. And, I love all the things Lucy's done and never understood why everyone criticized her for doing Mame.

I saw it for the first time around the exact same time you did in the 90s on lifetime.I didnt know it was Lucy until they mentioned her name in the commercial break. That goes to show you how good of an actress she was.

I didn't know this was her, either until last night when I looked the movie up. I've hated all the stuff she was in where I knew it was her. I definitely hated I Love Lucy when I would watch it. Totally stupid show. This movie showed that the woman really could act, especially when I didn't ever realize it was her.

Lucy mentioned in an interview that thet filmed the movie all around New York and no one recognized her.
