Add Space adventure Cobra to that list mate

English Language Anime: Dub it, don't pervert it.

Don't forget "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom"; The Mineworld scenes were definitely inspired by that.

"Star Wars" - I enjoyed Legend of Orin, but let's face it: it's mostly ripped off from Star Wars. They even have some of the exact same lines and sound effects.

reply

Yep, pretty blatant rip-off. But at least it's one of the better ones out there, and entertaining in it's own right. I know I've seen some pretty horrid attempts to re-capture the Star Wars magic in a bottle before, but this is the only one I really enjoy watching over and over again.

And Star Wars ripped of some stuff of this movie too, like the bad guy , who got cut in 2 and falls in the abyss. (Darth Maul?)

I personaly think this story should have been the basic story of Anakin in Episode one.

You do realize that alot and I mean ALOT of Animated TV shows shared the same sound effects that were in Star War.

And Star Wars itself is not an original movie, Lucas blatently stole a lot of material from other old and obscure movies from the early 20th century, same goes for his Indiana Jone original trilogy of movies.

Why do you think his current movies suck so badly? because people have acess to this knowledge and films, he can't steal from other movies any more without being sued for plagiarism.

So please, do some research when you call movies like this "Star Wars rip off" when Star Wars the original trilogy are hardly made up of original material in the first place.

Just to add on to this, I think that's why Hollywood is in remake mode right now. As you mentioned, with the internet, there really is a ton of access for obscure gems so the old way of taking something obscure and changing the name on it doesn't work anymore, less you feel like being sued. So rather than deal with that, they just find a property they can reboot and go with that. And I don't say this in a dismissive way torwards Lucas because with all the current genre mashing people have been doing these days, its evident that it takes considerable skill to do it right, which is why Star Wars is still good in its own right, despite how much he lifted from others (brief aside: Lucas not only swiped from movies, but apparently he's ripped comics books and BDs(french comics) off as well). Cameron is another one who lifted a ton of others work for Avatar.

Robocop (while awesome) was a direct lift of Judge Dredd (not the *beep* movie with Stallone but the real deal comic from 2000AD).

Just my one cent since I can't afford two.
