Lol StarWars Ripoff? But maybe Lucas got his own back!

Spoilers! Like so many i remembered this film from the 80's, just found it and watched again and skimmed through this board to see other thoughts and some interesting stuff. Yeh pretty fun, some typical 80's scary scenes such as the cyborg zombies, and lol at the slutty fembot, and a background mutant women with 3 breasts ala Total Recall.

Anyway its a pretty blatant StarWars ripoff, even with the actual plot aside there are scenes pretty much lifted from the first 2 films, maybe Jedi wasnt out while this was storyboarded! But most offensive has to be the main ship having that unique Falcon engine roar, its pretty bad.

But i have to mention there were a couple of bits, such as the main character using his lightsword to cut through doors like the jedi did in phantom menace, and the main baddie getting a Darth Maul sendoff, not sure if that evens things out but had to mention it!

I didn't notice the engine sound effect thing, but the "light saber" stuff was pretty obvious. There's a lot of sci-fi that's ripped off in this movie.

It's kind of a small film, and given the artistry put into it, I find it forgivable. It's a nice little film.

Sorry but, I don't see anything ripped from Star Wars that Star Wars in turn didn't rip from Bugs Bunny, Star Trek, The Magnificent Seven, Daffy Duck, and other comics and movies. This movie is actually quite different from Star Wars, sorry but, lightsaber rip off? Please. The blade in this movie was nothing like a lightsaber. It had no blade, it only worked for certain people and under certain conditions, unlike a lightsaber which anyone can use. As for the Phanrom Menace "ripoff" please, if anything, Phantom Menace ripped off this movie since it came out after this movie. Also, ditto with the ghosts. Don't know if Empire Strikes back had aleeady came out, but if not, Empire and Return of the Jedi ripped off the ghosts. This movie does not get the respect it deserves.

I would say its paying homage to Starwars rather than ripping it off.
