Two things I find odd about the ending

***SPOILERISH***

One-Arnold convinces Connie to get up and go outside for a ride wih him. She's barefoot. But she comes back to the house and she comes walking up, and she's got tennis shoes on.

Two-Ellie is in the house while Arnold and Connie are out on their "ride." I swear that Arnold told Ellie to stay there until he came back. Yet, when Arnold drops Connie off, her parents are already home. And there is no Ellie.

Given the fact that the story is based upon a serial murderer, does anyone think it's possible that Arnold killed Connie and that Ellie killed her mother, father and sister, and they didn't meet back at the house, but some image of the house-and they were all dead? That would explain why Connie didn't know what happened, and why her mother was confused about the timing of things-she apologizes for hitting her earlier in the morning-but wasn't that another day? And Arnold spoke as if he knew they weren't coming back-he was looking up at the sky when he was talking about the picnic. Then the mention of the neighbor. I dunno, maybe I am just reading too much into this, LOL.

I don't know if you read the book but I've always assumed that the family was just fine. They were out and Arnold, being a stalker, used them to threaten Connie and basically mind *beep* her into going with him to be raped and killed. She just disappears and her family never knows where she's gone.
