I was thrilled by the 1993 film, also written by Nicholson, and would very much like to see this adaptation also. However, being a TV movie, is it available in any format?

It is now on DVD as well. I got it from a Christian Bookstore, bought it sight unseen, because I loved the version with Anthony Hopkins and Deborah Winger so well. And I wasn't disappointed. It's wonderful, but as others have mentioned, there are good points about both versions. As yet, I can't choose my favorite. Maybe it's not necessary.

Just picked up the vhs tape from the library.
Now I have to scrounge up a VCR.

It's available on DVD from Netflix.

I saw it on television years ago, just like the 1993 cinema version.
I thought that the 1985 (TV-)film was better, and Joss Ackland played wonderfully. This TV movie made me remember Joss Ackland so I could watch him whenever one of his works would come along.
