Who gets their mail at 8:00 a.m.?

Are there actually people that get their mail by or at 8:00 a.m. in the morning, or was Dee Wallace's character just simply the worst person in the world at lying?

I know this is a 4 year old post, but the Mail doesn't magically get delivered to everyone all at once at the exact same time.

Someone has a full workday that starts in the morning and ends in the afternoon to deliver the route. If you're at the beginning of that route, you'll receive your Mail... wait for it... in the morning!

I"m aware of that. Of course that kind of thought has always been in my mind, but, I just wasn't aware that mail carriers begin that early. I guess I thought they would be on the road or actually starting their routes at 9:00 a.m. When I was a kid, I actually sort of took a poll (in person, with a clipboard, outside of a supermarket) regarding this topic in my hometown, and the earliest that anyone ever said they got their mail was 10:45 a.m.

The long term career carriers have a set schedule, but the gaps and overruns are filled in by part-time carriers with flexible schedules. The flex shifts can begin at any time and can cover any section of the permanent routes.

I did that work in the 90s and I was on the street as soon as the sun came up.

People used to get so pissed, because I was delivering what was essentially a piece of various routes that the normal carrier didn't have time to finish. If they normally got their Mail in the morning and I came by that afternoon, they would literally curse me out. "I get my Mail at xx O'Clock every day. What the f*ck have you been doing all day that you aren't delivering my Mail on time?" I was called lazy and worthless and every ethnic slur in the book, even if none of them even fit. It was a shitty job.

There are loads of spoiled brats in the world. 'Sounds like you had a whole neighborhood full to deal with. Thanks for the lesson on mail carrier flex shifts and such. I was just plain ignorant of that sort of thing. I still would be if I'd never watched "Secret Admirer". Thanks, Artificial Anti-Viral Freak, or does the AAV stand for something else?
