Saw a Recut

I know someone who cut out all of the parents/adult subplot scenes out of this movie, shortening it to 69 minutes. That recut was a blast to watch. I saw some of the original scenes with the adults and was not sad to see them go. I don't get why this movie needed the adults and why it needed to be longer than 70 minutes.
