So much better than Unstoppable

It's weird when you watch this film versus Unstoppable, and realize that the tension, the character development and the action sequences are actually so much more intense in this 1985 picture than the newer one with Denzel and Chris Pine.

The fact that they were escaped convicts as the protagonists instantaneously creates that emotional dichotomy where you despise their criminal activity but at the same time are rooting for them to be free.

The movie does a fine job of playing on the emotions of the viewers by showing them the different sides of a coin about whether freedom is worth freezing to death or crashing in a runaway train, or if people unwilling to change deserve said freedom?
