Forrest Gump has to have been directly influenced by this Eric Roberts performance. I swear if Tom Hanks would have turned down the role of Forrest, Eric Roberts would've knocked it outta the park.
I dunno why, but I have this funny feeling that he needed shoes in that scene.
I guess it's just a hunch.

shareI'm obviously an idiot, but I honestly genuinely sincerely thought that it was horrendously bad acting on Roberts' part. The accent is as fake as it can be. Yet the guy's received an Oscar nomination for his performance (the only one in his whole career).
What's also important is that the character is made overly dumb for no reason. The Roberts' character did not had to have a brain of a 6 year old child!
