saw it, didn't like it. too many plotholes. worst, it doesn't even show the train crash in the end, just this ambiguous shot of Voight standing on top of the engine as it goes to the end of the track (presumably)...
"With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility" Stan Lee, 1962
This is what happens when you let 7 year olds like hypestyle use a computer. Please go back to the Avengers boards or some other comic book super hero board where children like you belong.
It's not at all surprising. If it doesn't include graphic murder or elementary dialog, it doesn't interest people like the OP. God help them if they watch a film that might actually cause them to think.
It's the same type of person that can't divide without a calculator, or even better, a tablet.
The OP describes himself in his profile as a college graduate in mass communications and he's available for consultation on film and TV journalism lol. With those credentials he's probably employed at Walmart in the dvd section.
It's fine to not like Runaway Train but when all you do is comment on Comic book movies like Superman Vs Batman it's very hard to take your opinions serious.
I'm not surprised at the immature responses really. The fans seem to have seen it when it came out so it had a big impact on them. Nostalgia is the only reason I can think people would call this terribly acted and written B-movie one of the greatest films ever made, or a masterpiece.
You must be right. No other reason. But what's perplexing to me, is that 1985 wasn't exactly an ancient year, it should've have left such a strong impression on them even then! ------------------------------------- I own you.https://goo.gl/0avZjB
"My film is about good and evil and the struggle for freedom; it is not about the train. It wasn’t my vision, it was Kurosawa’s. It was a great chance to make a film from the script of one of the greatest artists of the 20th century. When I got the call to make it I couldn’t believe my ears, it was a great honour to make and I worked hard on it. It . . . was an attempt to understand the mystery of human life. Because human life is the most interesting thing that we can explore and I am absolutely convinced that the most expressive visual effect is the human face, much more expressive than CGI." -Andrei Konchalovsky
Plot holes for adolescents perhaps. Ask yourself what are you in life? Are you a tough guy in lamb's wool like Eric Roberts or Barstow? Are you just a no BS guy like Rankin or Manheim? Are you willing to slide through a pile full of seeage for freedom or climb icy steel at 80 mph to save yourself, that's the lesson . If you want to knock a movie for things you don't understand then I can't help you. Some of the best movies leave you demanding closure and come away empty. What happens to Hobbs in Tresure of the Sierra Madre? The director wants you to THINK for yourself . It's not a new concept.
dumb movie? Wow. Didn't really notice plot holes. Seems very focused and on track (ha!). If the train had been shown crashing, THAT would have been a terrible, ignorant ending. I could go on for pages about how this is a "brilliant movie", but whatever. Totally tasteful, down to earth, riveting, classic piece of work. WORSHIP IT!
