What if Drago won the fight within the first three rounds with a knockout over Rocky. Would Drago have gone on to be a hero in his county, and would his life after the fight have been very different?

I think Drago was already a national hero and evidence to the world that the Soviet way was superior to our silly capitalistic excess. If he won the fight (which they clearly expected), nothing would have changed.
It’s possible he would’ve inspired a new level of patriotism in his communist comrades. The Soviet Union could have even found a new inner strength and defeated the pro freedom and prosperity for all capitalist United States lead by Ronald Reagan. Maybe the USSR riding a wave of victory would’ve decided it was time to launch the nukes.
We’ll never know. Rocky overcame and lead the old guard KGB to stand and applaud his determination to win. Global themo nukYOUlure war avoided.

shareThe next step would be to pursue the legit heavyweight title. The Apollo fight was not professional and the Rocky fight would not have been sanctioned. He still would have been looking for opponents in the west that he could beat to cement his reputation as the best heavy in the world.
