My favorite part of the movie. I find it kinda ironic how Rocky was training in the country side with simple tools and without much comfort when Drago had it the opposite. It’s a great sequence and Stallone’s training feels real here because of his body transformation.
shareThat’s the whole point of it. It’s to show that Drago is training the ‘unnatural’ way - drugs/stimulants etc in a sweaty indoors setting whereas Rocky’s training is all natural - outdoors, using older, more traditional ways. Such a contrast between the two men.
With the awesome music pumping over the top of it all, this made for a fantastic training montage. Possibly the best training montage of all the Rocky films.
That editing. Must have took ages to cut that together in the old school way. Same with the fight.
I wonder how much time and money was spent in the editing suite compared to other movies.
Its a great example of using simple old school tools vs high technology.
Didnt even get a nod at the Oscars for editing. Absolute joke it wasnt even nominated never mind win it. The editing is so good in this film no matter what you think of the quality of the rest of it. Years later people were creaming over Baby Driver because the editing was matched with the music. Yeh it flowed well and was tight, but still it was edited on a computer where you can change your mind later with the undo button. Different to cutting precious film reel. Rocky 4, nobody had edited that tight before, and it still holds up as good as anything today.
