Rocky gets punched in the face 148 times

Incredibly phony and stupid movie. I counted the number of times Drago punched Rocky in the face during the fight . 148 times!!! A Popeye cartoon is more plausible.

reply

lol, 148 times by Ivan Drago should have killed him 148 times over. Unrealistic, but awesome as hell.

You need to get yourself a woman, lad.

reply

As Drago Says: "He's like a peice of iron".

reply

Apollo couldn't go past two rounds when he died yet Rocky went 15.

reply

Drago's punches had a strength of a shotgun blast at close range. There's no way Rocky should have won the fight or lasted nearly as long as he did.

But the story of the movie is The American working his ass off going up against a evil Russian who's cheating. Drago towers over Rocky and has a hell of a lot more reach then him.

This movie is propaganda. It's not hard to figure out it's going to be with the opening few seconds. It's unrealistic but I was able to suspend my disbelief and enjoy it.

reply

Rocky has the ability to take it and keep going, like the bunny of energizer.
Also, don't underestimate the punchs of rocky, no one can hold the title if his punches are not lethal. As for propaganda, there was a propaganda, but don't forget it is not different that much from the reality, see soviet history

Not to mention Rocky gets knocked down by Drago like 75 times during the fight and keeps getting back up. Drago goes down once and he's finished.

reply

How many punches did rocky serve to drago? That is what counts

Course it was absurd! Rocky was half-dead after round 1 but after round 2 he looked as though he just got warmed up. The best part: He never blocked even one punch. His head was his guard.

reply

Against Apollo Drago got untouched and just used that lethal punch and killed him because Apollo was not in fighting shape. Rocky trained his life away for the Drago fight and Drago did the same lethal punches to Rocky in RD 1 but because Rocky took the fight seriously he was able to survive it and then finally in RD 2 he found the opening and used his strong punch to cut and hurt Drago which changed the tone of the fight. Once Rocky cut and hurt him he weakened Drago's lethal punches and as the fight wore on Drago got weaker and weaker and his punches were mere human. Also, remember Rocky had the "no pain" mentality.

A person being weak insults others. Any insults at me will put that user on ignore---IMDB Signature.

Please, don't even bother to try to rationally explain why Rocky was able to take Drago's punches for 15 rounds for any reason other than "it's a Rocky movie." Taking a fight seriously does not increase how much punishment your face can withstand, and one cut to Drago's face would not significantly reduce the power of his 2000 psi punches. Rocky's inability to block a single punch should have been the death of him as well, no pain mentality or not. Perhaps he survives Round 2 because he hit a turning point whereas Apollo continued to get pummeled to his death, but he took enough punches to the face for the rest of the fight that realistically he goes 4 rounds at best.

reply

Yup, and that is why Rocky is just plain awesome.

reply

It's a phony movie??? Thanks for the spoiler I thought it was a true life documentary.

reply

Rocky was a mutant. His skull was made of Adamantium. That's why Drago wasn't able to kill him, let alone knock him out. Creed, Lang and Drago were mere mortals compared to Rocky!

reply

Rocky's strategy was to wear out Drago's fists with his face.

He got punched in the face a lot more than 148 times. They only showed brief highlights of most of the 15 rounds, so who knows how many times he got punched in the face during the parts that they didn't show?

Had they shown the whole fight it would have been an ~hour long (15 3-minute rounds, plus a 1-minute rest interval between each round). The whole movie is only about an hour and 24 minutes long, not counting the end credits and the rehash of the Rocky III ending at the beginning.
