just got the revisted dvd, this movie is outstanding!

excellent cinemaphotography, excellent music, excellent sets, excellent costumes.
and most of all, the acting was great. i really have no idea why pacino was blasted for his performance. he was very good as a frontiersman (it was nice to see him take a break from his usual "city boy" roles). his accent was authentic and believable, and i really liked the new narration - it added alot to his character.

why is this movie so hated? its way better than the patriot/

reply

haha, why do people compare this film to The Patriot? Revolution is terrible. Even if it's marginally better than the Patriot who cares?

reply

did they add naration to the dvd? do you mean as an added extra or just added naration to the movie?

reply

They added narration to the movie. The DVD is actually called "Revolution Revisited" now. I never saw the original version, but there is a bonus feature conversation with Pacino and the director that indicates the new narration fills in a lot of holes in the original. Btw, I thought the movie was pretty forgettable.

I saw the theatrical version quite recently and Pacino`s mumbling, detached, almost disinterested looking performance might be explained by the fact that he was ill during filming which I didn`t realise beforehand.Granted it`s beautifully photographed and the sets and costumes look fantastic but the script is really quite poor.An off-colour Pacino also needs the other cast members to step up and they just don`t deliver:Sutherland doesn`t work as the Sergeant and Kinski is just average.Watch out for a very young Sid Owen (Ricky!!!!!!!)who gets replaced by Dexter Fletcher(Lock,Stock 2SB)halfway through the film.
