Was Arnold a complete idiot with this movie or what

He says he thought he was in for a cameo and felt cheated when he was "made" to co-star with Nielsen through "sneaky editing" (Yeah ok. It had nothing to do with the fact that you were filmed in about 30 different locations, you never could have guessed how big your role was). But didn't he read the script? They couldn't just persuade him to do more on the spot, they are professionals and have contracts and stuff. Arnold also got 1 million dollars from this role, even when we are talking about Arnold close to his peak here no-one gets 1 million 1985 dollars from a true cameo. This thing just doesn't make sense.

He probably knew he was one of the main characters, and he obviously would have top billing. Actors always complain about their "bad" movies, especially after negative feedback. They probably do it to protect their careers as if they're not at fault for taking the role in the first place.

Apparently he was having lots of sex with Neilsen at the time.

Scripts are constantly re-written, even during filming. And yes, actors can be persuaded to do more on the spot. No movie is finalized until it's been cut and edited and distributed in theaters. And even now, there are director cuts and unrated cuts and all new footage, etc.

In 1978, Marlon Brando was paid $3 million for his glorified cameo in Superman: The Movie.

Does IMDB hate apostrophes?

He got to bone Red Sonja... I think if he protested at all it fell on deaf ears.

arnold is no fool. he knew exactly what he was getting into. the thing is as every fan of arnold knows, the man likes to tell stories. to the point he will sometimes start making stuff up just to tell a good story.

And whenever they catch you, they will kill you. But first, they must catch you...

It mentions "crafty angles and multiple cameras" in the trivia section, which I don't believe for a second. Sneaky editing can't make up scenes you didn't film, so it's clearly a tall tale. Big fan of Arnie, but whether he likes it or not, he's the male lead in this movie......

The way its worded in the trivia section makes it seem very plausible, though. If he agreed to a cameo at $1 million, but once he got there suddenly the director has him filming more and more scenes that indicate he is the co-star, he can easily say he was tricked into being the co-star for the payment of a cameo. In other words, if he knew all along he was the co-star he could have asked for more money. By the time he figured it out it was too late. And like the person above said in regards to Brando in Superman, 1 million for a cameo back then for Arnold, after the success of both Conan movies and Terminator, is actually pretty reasonable. But also thanks to the success of those three movies, had he known before agreeing to anything that he would have been the co-star, he could have asked for much much more money.
